biography
Born in London, UK, Chris worked briefly on British Top 40 pop chart productions, before embarking fully on the study of jazz, classical and world music at Morley College, City Lit, Roehampton Insitute London, Otterbein College US and London College of Music, graduating with BMus and MMus degrees in composition. During that period he performed and researched the musical spirituality of the Zimbabwean Shona, Indonesian gamelan and Native American, (in Ohio US); as well as Caribbean, North and South American jazz, leading various combos in and around London on piano.
To date, Chris has scored over 25 films and documentaries, whichthe award winning, BAFTA nominated Michael Winterbottom feature, "Tristram Shandy: A Cock & Bull Story", starring Steve Coogan (Tropic Thunder), Rob Brydon (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Naomie Harris (28 Days Later), Kelly MacDonald (No Country for Old Men), Gillian Anderson (X Files) and Stephen Fry (The Hobbit); the 2006 rom-com feature, "Three Minute Moments", (with British tv actress Belinda Lang), "K (aka The 8th Piece)", starring Colin Salmon (Resident Evil) and Tamer Hassan (Batman Begins); the documentary, "Not In Our Name" 2008 headlined by British ex-cabinet minister/MP, Tony Benn (Sicko), which featured his opus for flute and piano, Lebanon (Larmes pour Bayrout). Chris has scored recent award winners; "Anglesey Road" (a 2009, 35mm short), as well as well the features, "Monk3ys" and "Stag Night Of The Dead".
In 2000, he was awarded a London College of Music prize for his Princess Diana dedicated piano sonata, published alongside the work of Beethoven, Handel, Haydn & Prokofiev whilst in 2003, theatre director, Vasant Nath approached him to compose incidental music for acclaimed Indian writer, Kiran Nagarkar's "Bedtime Story", a controversial play, (based on The Mahabharata, and banned in India over 17 years), which was performed at the 2003 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2008 and 2011 he composed ceremony music for the prestigious WIFTS Awards in Los Angeles, and by 2009, several corporate film compositions for Madame Tussauds and The London Eye Tourist Attractions, the latest which is played, on site, to an estimated 20,000 tourists daily. His concert work has been performed by The Bridge String and Solaris String Quartets as well as several chamber ensembles.
Chris is also an educator and trustee of the children's charity Fox Carnival, a mas band which raises esteem, teaches key skills and builds communtities through art and performance at the Notting Hill Carnival. He currently lives in London with his wife, Tracy and their four daughters.
